Ugly Moth

Far away, a moth appears to look nice, colourful and sometimes with fantastic design patterns on their wings. But at close look, the creature is actually ugly, hairy and powdery.
Beware, when it struggles, the powder on its body can spread to your eyes, causing some irritation.

The Blue Fly and Rhododendron

Flowers are often associated with bees and butterflies. But this Rhododendron flower seems to be rotting, attracting the large blue fly. This fly has two large red eyes and I wonder what it can see.

Fired Bumpy Bee

It cannot be the bumpy bee uses rocket fuel until the back side exhibits orangey yellow colour.

It is the curvy hard glassy reflective skin which has split the white light into various colours, from blue, green, yellow, orange and a little red. It follows more or less the rainbow colours. But where is the violet?

Light

Light is an interesting subject, Newton experimented it through optics and Einstein dreamed about it, and all came out with fantastic theories and led us to the understanding of Universe.

Ordinary living things need light to live on this land and through their eyes, see various colours.

Why are there so many colours then? 

I took this photography on a moonlit night and captured two light emitting sources. Can you guess what were they? 

Answer: The white light is the moon while the yellow-red is the halogen street light!

Dropping Leaves in My Farm

It is not easy to maintain a forest farm. Thousand of leaves fall down on the ground each day. In certain season, most of the large leaves of some trees just drop down in bulk. The floor will be all covered with these brown leaves.

When I was young, I felt dropping leaves romantic. I even wrote a novel on the dropping leaves. But when I get old, I feel the dropping leaves troubling!

This part of the farm is one of my favourite places to rest and to look at the ponds with all different types of birds flying, stalking and hunting. 

Orange Durians ?

Sarawak produces many varieties of durians and most of the time the hard skin is greenish in colour, and if it is too ripe, slightly yellowish. Most local people like durians, but these fruits only appear during the end of the year. Sometimes there were so many that you could buy at very cheap price, like four durians for US2. Sometime, one could cost more than US2. 

But these are not durians, although they look similar. These fruits are from a type of wild palm.

Hairy Light Orange Fungus

This cartoon-shaped mushroom, like an inverted head, sprang out from the decayed wood in my farm, outstanding due to its bright colour among the dull brown background. 
White hairs stand all over the surface.
