Bamboo Plants

Bamboo plants are useful plants and there are plenty in my farm.
My mother used to harvest the shoots for food, used long poles for drying clothes and constructed make-shift sheds.

I used them in the road design in peat swamp. By criss-crossing the bamboos, and tied together with the geotextile on top, it formed a separation layer to prevent the filling earth finds its way into the peat, thus allowing a stabilised earth embankment formed. I could not stop the settlement, but at least a  road was formed. It required regular top-up.

In Chinese history, these plants were poetic and artistic. The stems and leaves often inspired them.
