Brown striped Starlings

It is quite scary to look at their red eyes, as red as the berries!

Black and brown striped Starlings

Why are these birds gather around the wild tree and making so much noise ? Are they eyeing the water apples in my house, or the tree itself also bear berries ?

Costus speciosus (Crepe ginger)

It sprang up as wild plant among the grass growth near my house, about 2m height.
Normally, it multiplied by rhizome, but this one, just like the plants near my farm, grew from seed brought by the birds.
The plants are famed to have some medicinal values.

My Ugly Dog

What ? Still the same junk food!
If you want better food, Go and find yourself!
Well, humans and animals are alike, never satisfy with what they have!

Water Apple Season

The sunlight is piercingly hot these few days, sunspot activities?
But the water apple tree is fruiting now. Thousands of water apples are hanging on the tree. Unfortunately, I cannot reach the high part of the tree.
So, I watch hundreds of noisy birds coming every day, happily eating, with the floor full of half eaten fruits!

The Finely designed long Nest

It dropped on my chair from nowhere (probably from ceiling). I found some creature sneaking out the end opening and the moment disturbed, retreated back. By the time I took out the camera, the creature has gone, flew away likely.
The nest is made up of wood fibres and mud and is very spongy. Why the nest tapers instead of a tube? All larvae seem to be uniform and not tapering!
How the larva of the insect designs and makes such finely nest is beyond my comprehension! Genetic Instructions?

Calliandra haematocephala

Even though the flowers are small, they are strikingly beautiful and unique.
