Initially they danced around in circle, sometimes they chased each other. Somehow, the male managed to tempt the female, perhaps by emitting some sort of chemical according to research studies, and the female succumbed to the male, and they mated.
Humans also did that to the females by spiking the drinks, seemed to be one of the animal's instinct.
