This is the type of palm I am quite dreaded of in the forest. If you are not careful and grabbed on it to support or stabilise your body, you can imagine what will happen to your hands. I got poke by just one thorn on the finger through two layers of hand gloves, it took me one week to recover even I applied antiseptic cream immediately!
