What an ugly creature !
Actually not, I played with a lot of different coloured cicadas when I was young in the country side. They came in plenty at night when the light was on. They also looked much better than this one.
Cicada is one of the most widely recognised insects. There are more than 2500 species of Cicadas in this world. This one is especially ugly but it has unique light orange bottom.
The wings are transparent with conspicuous veins and they are sap drinkers. They can live up to 13-17 years! The loud and continuous noise produced by the male cicada in the middle of the night can be annoying.
But some Natives like to eat these insects while the Chinese make traditional medicine out of them!
